I earned my Yelp Mexican badge today, so I suppose that makes me an expert reviewer for this restaurant. It is more rewarding to get my Mexican badge at a very nice Homestead Mexican restaurant. Curb appeal is nice (see photos). Outside tiki hut is separate area that would be great for a special event. There is a nicely landscaped waterfall in this area that would add to the ambience once the water is plumbed. (see photo) Prices are very reasonable - all breakfast meals are five dollars and come with rice and beans. I had Migas which are scrambled eggs and corn tortilla chips. The pinto beans were more of a soup like consistency. The meal satisfied my large appetite. (See photo) My wife had chicken tacos. The chicken was grilled and pulled from bone. The flavor was mild and could have used more seasoning, but green salsa was provided. (See photo)
The menu is adequate, but could use more description in English, especially since some of the wait staff don't speak English. Alcohol is served on premise. There is a cafeteria style steamer table for takeout. The only typical Nicaraguan food on the menu was Gallo Pinto, a rice and red bean dish.
This place could be five stars if it improved the seasoning of the food, add a salsa bar, and finish the waterfall landscaping. It would be a great choice for that obligatory trip to Homestead for Mexican food. The outdoor dining area has the potential to be a romantic dinner date and it is a good choice for a special event. -

The name is VERY misleading, it's a Mexican restaurant. The only Nicaraguan food is Gallo pinto, which is all rice and some beans with no flavor and very greasy, and tostones that are made in the microwave. The steak people in my party ordered wasn't very good and had a weird after taste, low quality meat and very little of it. Not a place I would ever return to.

Great place, casual so can come in any attire. I've been coming here for years since their previous location. I always bring my friends here whenever they ask for great Mexican food. Very affordable and always fresh food.

The service was alright. The waitresses were not very attentive. On top of that, turns out the food is MICROWAVED. It's not fresh, it is re-heated and it makes you wonder how old the food was or if it was frozen. The only good things about the restaurant is that the salsa tasted very good and the entree itself tasted decent. Never coming here again. Also, they were very stingy with the chips and salsa.
